Rugged IoT BOX Computer

CONTEC Japan has announced the BOX Computer BX-R100, their latest durable IoT Platform. The BX-R100 can operate stably in temperatures ranging from -40 to 70°C.

The unit conforms to Railway Standard EN50155 and provides edge computing for moving objects such as railway applications and is also made to function in harsh environments.

The BX-R100 sports an Intel Atom E3845 1.91GHz processor, 4GB of RAM and a 32GB MLC mSATA SSD for storage.

Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 64bit is optional and can be provided in English, Japanese, Chinese and Korean.

CONTEC BX-R100 Features:

Low running cost and high energy efficiency
Adopting the low-power platform of Intel® AtomTM Processor E3845 achieves lower power consumption while still ensuring sufficient performance.
Complies with railway standards
The BX-R100 complies with various standards that are used in railway applications, including EN55032, EN61000-3-2, EN61000-3-3, EN55024, EN50155, EN45545-2, EN60068-2-1, and EN61373.
Rugged and durable design
The BX-R100 is capable of operating in various ambient temperature environments and is highly vibration and shock resistant.
Operating temperatures range from -40 to 70°C (When using 1000BASE-T : -40 to 65°C) with active air cooling of 0.5m/s. In case of natural air cooling ambient temperatures may range from -40 to 60°C (When using 1000BASE-T : -40 – 55°C). The BX-R100 is vibration resistant up to 5G and shock resistant up to 100G.
M12 connector interface
The BX-R100 includes two M12 8pin X-Coded connectors for LAN(1000BASE-T/100BASE-TX/10BASE-T) as well as a M12 4pin A-Coded connector for DC power.
Adapts to a wide range of power input
The BX-R100 accepts PoE(IEEE802.3at) power reception and is adaptable to a wide range of power input of 10.8V to 33.6V DC.
In addition, both power supplies can be switched seamlessly. For example connecting both power supplies and then disconnecting one of them, or applying DC power during PoE operation and disconnecting the PoE.
Fanless design
The BX-R100 spindleless and closed design eliminates cooling fans and relieves the concern about dust or foreign matter getting into the product, which means very low maintenance requirements.
